I know it's been a while. All summer I've been using my film camera and still haven't gotten any rolls developed. my bad. The good news is I GRADUATED COLLEGE. Awesome, right? So now that I have more time on my hands, (hopefully) I can get out and shoot more. The following set of images are from a party my friend Ryan threw for two separate friends' birthdays. I think it was also a sort of house-warming-type party for their new apartment. Looks pretty sweet. Anywho, here's a look at what happened:

Good to see you've all made it to yet another year. I hope it's going well for you so far. I thought I would take this time to give a short update, since the only other written post was the very first one. A lot has changed since then. First off, check out my physical change here.

Secondly, I'm not in community college anymore, if you hadn't noticed. I'm actually about to finish my degree in Communication Design at Texas State University. One more semester and two summer sessions to go. It's been a long process. Photography is still a huge passion of mine, but I am also very interested in graphic design and whatnot. Plus, it gives me more to do, which may or may not be a good thing.

(And speaking of more things to do, if you or anyone you know needs/wants photo or design work, send them my way. Especially if the project is music related. I'm trying to build my portfolio.)

Third, I've started a website (and actually decided to keep this blog instead of starting a new one (because I'm clingy and have a hard time letting go)) which you can find here.

And lastly, I'm sort of in a band. We haven't played any shows yet, but we have some recordings. Check that out here.

So in my advanced digital photo class we were given the assignment to create a book. Mine is of a few of my favorite double exposures from this summer, which most of you will remember from the blog. A triptych I did for class, but something I want to continue to explore.

There's a whole lot I could say about this series, but I'm just gonna say a quick bit. First of all it was originally influenced by Sugimoto's long exposures of movie theaters, and through discussion developed into something more. As for the concept, it's basically a commentary on the relationship between man and technology. That's all I'm gonna say about it. Your turn.

In an attempt to live my life (inspired by Don Miller's attempt to make his "story" more interesting), I've begun saying "yes" to a lot of questions/offers/invitations, and I'm looking for things to do outside of my normal comforts. Last night I went contradancing in Austin; it's like bluegrass, partnered line dancing. It was so much fun! Everyone should try it. Tonight I will be going swing dancing. And I've decided to have a monthly dance (or any kind, really) party. So apparently living my life means dancing...a lot. But I will do other stuff too! I'm planning on doing a puppet show (hopefully) this semester. Anywho, sorry for all the recent uploads, but at least it beats nothing at all, right?

I met this kitten while I was taking pictures. I've got better ones of him/her. You should look at them. It will make you sad that I couldn't keep her/him. :(

Gee. Life is weird. Hey, you know what? Every week you should show me your pictures that follow the assignment guidelines! And, unlike our class, I'll allow those pictures to be from any time. They can be from the week of the assignment, or from last year, or from the future(!).

Welcome to "from a chest in the attic," my photographic web log. Photoblog. You know. The posts that will follow this will be mostly photo posts (I can't guarantee I won't post other things), probably between three and five photos each post. It will be updated at least once a week. I am in a photography class in college and am given assignments weekly, so that's primarily what will be posted until the end of the semester. I'm hoping that this will build the habit and it will continue after that, seeing how photography is what I want to pursue as a career.

I am also usually a lot less formal and a lot more fun in my blog posts.
